SANTA CLARA, Calif. – September 20, 2005 – NETGEAR Inc., (Nasdaq: NTGR) a worldwide provider of technologically advanced, branded networking products, today announced the rollout of its line of Unified Threat Management (UTM) solutions that includes Trend Micro’s powerful Client/Server (CS) and Client/Server/Messaging (CSM) Suite for Small and Medium Business into the NETGEAR ProSafe™ VPN Firewall 200 (FVX538) and ProSafe VPN Firewall 50 (FVS338).
Currently shipping with both VPN firewalls, and available as a firmware upgrade for existing units, users receive a free 60-day trial subscription to the Trend Micro suite adding robust gateway-based policy enforcement of anti-virus and anti-spam protection to the comprehensive network security feature set provided by the VPN firewalls, delivering complete systems level solutions to address SMB security concerns.
The inclusion of Trend Micro’s Client/Server and Client/Server/Messaging Suite for SMB into NETGEAR’s ProSafe VPN Firewall 200 (FVX538) and ProSafe VPN Firewall 50 (FVS338) provides users with complete, affordable, robust unified threat protection at the gateway from Internet-, network- and wireless-based threats. Both firewalls enforce security policies established by the network administrator by allowing Internet access for only those computers that have the latest anti-virus and anti-spam signatures. “The potential damage to small- and medium-sized businesses from Internet and network-based threats can be devastating, but the costs and complexities involved with incorporating comprehensive network protection solutions have traditionally been beyond the scope of affordability and expertise of the majority of SMB users,” explained Kevin Allan, NETGEAR Director of Product Marketing – Business Products. “Combined with Trend Micro’s Client/Server or Client/Server/Messaging Suite, NETGEAR’s ProSafe VPN Firewall 200 (FVX538) and ProSafe VPN Firewall 50 (FVS338) deliver comprehensive Unified Threat Management solutions that enable SMB users to deploy affordable enterprise-class protection across the network without the need for additional IT resources.
